Switching Over
Most small businesses have phone lines provided by a direct carrier such as BT or Cable & Wireless. Normally, you keep your existing lines, but add an indirect provider who provides a dialing code to access another network. Often this dialing code can either be programmed into your existing phone system. If not, most companies offer "dialers" that attach to each phone outlet and automatically dial the network access number prior to each phone call. For very small businesses or home-based businesses, the provider may charge a small initial fee for this service.
