You must choose the right provider for you - but we will help!
The right provider depends on how much your business spends on call charges each month, how much of your spend for international calls and the quality of service you require. While all UK providers measure the standard of their service versus BT, most of the large providers with their own networks provide a quality of service very comparable to that of BT. Resellers normally sell phone and data service more cheaply to SMEs than the larger companies do. Normally the quality of transmission levels are similar, but the service quality can vary greatly.
When you use 1st Telecommunications we will help you choose the right provider for you and we'll make sure making the decision to swap providers is highly cost effective for your business. However there are some things you should bear in mind:
- Access codes. Unless your new service provider provides you with a new direct phone line (normally only provided for users with a very high volume of calls) you will need to access a new network by dialing an access code before each call. Normally the service provider will you with a "dialer" that connects to each wall socket you have and will do this automatically for you.
- Another phone bill. Your new service provider will bill you separately for call charges. You still have to pay for rental of the lines themselves to BT on a separate bill. Some phone companies offer pre-pay accounts, where callers use a credit card to pay for charges. This is not recommended for the office environment.
- Quality. The transmission quality of the larger networks is comparable to that of BT. Smaller networks and resellers, particularly those tariffs are dramatically lower than the larger networks, may suffer in quality
